League Matters11th March 2012
Scores secretary’s report
To all clubs.
The new league season is upon us and it is necessary to bring members up to date with changes both major and minor.
We have gained two extra clubs, Barnsole P.C playing venue The Black Pig at Staple, and The Horse & Groom who have entered with a new squad.
Whilst it is good to gain any new clubs it has been a disappointment in that three or four expressed interest but the others fell by the wayside.
The addition of a team means an uneven split in the divisions so I have adjusted the relegation and promotion spots to make D1 ten teams and D2 & 3 eight teams.
Cup and Plate matches will revert to a one leg straight knock out format.
The season will start on Tuesday 12th April 2012 (Thursday 14th April for those teams whose home night is a Thursday). First week will be round one of the Cup.
League matches commence on Tuesday 19th April 2012.
League competitions have been scheduled for… Singles Sunday 3rd July 2012
Doubles Sunday 7th August 2012
Triples Sunday 4th September 2012
The original intention was to spilt these between The Brown Jug and The Share & Coulter but we have to consider The Northwood Club and there remains also Charlotte Court.
The division 2 / 3 Doubles Competition (restricted to D2 & D3 teams only) will I presume be held at The Northwood Club but as at the time of writing the date has yet to be agreed.
Name and/or Venue changes plus new venue.
The Taverners ;The Vale; Hoverspeed; Manston Flyers; will all now be playing at The Northwood Club.
The Taverners in D2 retain the same name
The Vale in D3 now known as Northwood
Hoverspeed in D3 now known as Northwood Magpies
Manston Flyers in D3 retain the same name
Barnsole P.C. in D3 play at The Black Pig , Staple.
Horse & Grm in D3 play at Charlotte Court
Please note to avoid confusion the original Horse & Groom team remain as Crafty Jacks and also play at Charlotte Court.
There has been much to-ing and fro-ing pre season, causing fixture lists to be re-written three times. Hopefully all is now well but if you do find a fault please ring me and I will get it sorted.
Les Taylor.
